New Edimax 32-bit EW-7722In Wireless PCI NIC ~ Ubuntu 11.10

Note ~ The very latest Linux kernel now supports this card as standard.  The following is purely for my own reference…

Installed this non standard driver:

Code:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential linux-firmware
wget http://media.cdn.ubuntu-de.org/forum/attachments/2739482/DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217_prepared.tar.gz
tar xvf DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217_prepared.tar.gz
cd DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217_prepared
sudo make
sudo make install
echo "blacklist rt2800pci" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rt2800pci.conf

Many thanks praseodym of Germany!!!  [The Ubuntu Forums.]

Will need reinstalling every new kernel with:

Code:
cd DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217_prepared
sudo make clean
sudo make
sudo make uninstall
sudo make install

May need to blacklist old driver again:
echo "blacklist rt2800pci" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rt2800pci.conf

  1. Hey – thanks for this – worked first time on my 11.10 rig. Tried to get software from Edimax themselves but came across problems with their driver download file not being recognised as a valid bzip2 format file.

    Regards
    Ashley
